Volterra

Located approximately 50 km from Tuscany Hotel Campastrello, is the renowned city of Volterra.

The Etruscan origins of Volterra are visible from two of the city's ports: Porta Diana with two Etruscan jambs and the Porta dell'Arco (approx. 3rd century BC).

In Volterra it is also possible to admire monuments from the Roman era, for example the Roman theatre which to this day can still be visited, and from the medieval era, such as the Duomo (Volterra Cathedral, construction begun in the 13th century) and the admirable Palazzo dei Priori ("Priori Palace", built during the first half of the 13th century), the oldest municipal building in Tuscany.
